UN WORKSHOP ON PLANNING DRUG ABUSE TREATMENT, AIDS PREVENTION FOR IRAN

TEHRAN, 3 March (United Nations Information Centre) -- A workshop, entitled "Preparatory Consultation For Strategic Planning of Drug Abuse Treatment and HIV/AIDS Prevention for the Islamic Republic of Iran", will be held here from 4 to 6 March, 2003 at the Iranian Center for International Conferences.

The exercise is part of the activity implemented by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and the Secretariat of the Drug Control Headquarters of the Islamic Republic of Iran under the Darius Project. It will benefit from the participation of Ms. Dr. Juana Tomas Rosello, Drug Abuse Treatment Consultant, UNODC Vienna, and Mr. Oussama Tawil, the UNAIDS MENA (Middle East and North Africa) Regional Director, UNAIDS Cairo.

Experts from the Iranian organizations involved in drug abuse treatment and HIV/AIDS prevention will also participate in the event.
