UNDP CHIEF TO VISIT IRAN

          TEHRAN, 7 February (UNIC)—The Administrator of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Head of the UN Development Group, Mark Malloch Brown, will arrive in Tehran Monday on a short visit aimed at discussing with senior Iranian government officials long-term programmes for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the quake-stricken city of Bam.

          During his one-day stay, Mr. Brown will also visit the quake-stricken city of Bam where he will meet local authorities.

          Assistant Director General of UNESCO Mr. Mounir Bouchenaki will join Mr. Brown during his visit to Bam to discuss with the Iranian authorities UNESCO’s role in the coordination of international efforts for the reconstruction of Bam’s cultural heritage.
