TEHRAN, 15 March 2006 (UNIC)--On 14 March 2006 two Memorandums of Agreement were signed between the representatives of Small Grants Programme of Global Environmental Facilities in United Nations Development Programme (UNDP-GEF/SGP) and the two Non-Governmental Organizations.
UN Resident Representative of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in the Islamic Republic of Iran Mr. Knut Ostby, National Project Director of Conservation of Asiatic Cheetah Project Mr. Houshang Ziaie and the representatives of the two organizations were present in the signing ceremony.
The objectives of these two projects are to train and increase awareness of local communities regarding the conservation of Asiatic Cheetah in the two selected biospheres namely, Khartouran as well as Bafq, and improving relations with environment guards of Department of Environment, who are involved in the above-mentioned project.
In continuation of these two projects, another project with the objective of capacity building of the involved parties and introduction of methods in participatory management through people’s participation workshops is under execution.
