UNIDO TO HOLD “AWARENESS RAISING WORKSHOP” IN TEHRAN

TEHRAN 25 November 2007 (UNIC)—United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) jointly with the Ministry of Industries and Mines as well as Ministry of Foreign Affairs will hold an “Awareness Raising Workshop” here at building No. 1 of the Ministry of Industries and Mines on 28 November 2007. The main objective of the workshop is to provide an opportunity to all stakeholders to become familiar with the responsibilities, competencies, services and experiences of UNIDO as it relates to industrial development; recognize the needs for UNIDO to adapt its functions and priorities; and adjust its activities to the new realities and requirements of Iran. The workshop will be inaugurated by speeches from Minister of Industries and Mines Ali-Akbar Mehrabian, Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Dr. Abbas Araghchi and UNIDO Representative in Iran Mr. Weixi Gong. In addition to its main objective, the workshop intends to enable senior officials in the Government of Iran to acquire an overview on UNIDO’s mission and fields of activities; to raise awareness and understanding of Iranian policy makers on UNIDO’s services for industrial development; and to facilitate communication and understanding between Iranian policy makers and UNIDO’s country office in developing technical cooperation. |
