UNIC-Tehran interns win Plural+ video festival award

TEHRAN, 12 September 2018 (UNIC) – The Iranian United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) Interns have won the awards of “the Paley Center for Media” as well as “the Media Education Centre” of the Plural+ video festival.

PLURAL+ is a joint initiative between the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) and the International Organization for Migration(IOM), with a network of over 50 partner organizations, that support the creative efforts of young people and distribute their videos worldwide

PLURAL+ is a youth-produced video festival which encourages young people to explore migration, diversity and social inclusion, and to share their creative vision with the world.

This year the festival received 371 video entries from all around the world.

The Iranian UNIC interns’ video “Life without Borders” will be part of the PLURAL+ 2018 program, and will be showcased around the world in educational, noncommercial, venues (festivals, schools, conferences, etc.). Their video will also be available on PLURAL+ website.

Niousha Vafamanesh, UNIC Intern, editor of the video said: “This festival was a great opportunity for us to express our opinion and now I am happy that many young people will watch it. I am proud that our joint efforts were noticed by the jury and we won this prestigious award.”

PLURAL+ 2018 Awards ceremony will be held on the 19th of November at the United Nations Headquarters in New York; and all PLURAL+ 2018 award winning videos will be showcased at the Paley Center for Media of New York on the 21st of November.
