This is to inform our library users that UNIC Reference Library’s collection was transferred to the National Library and Archives of the Islamic Republic of Iran located in Tehran (Haghani Highway) at the end of the 2012. This is an opportunity for us to thank our faithful library clients who regularly visited our library for almost 20 years and we should apologize for any inconvenience. It should be mentioned that a selection of UN information materials is still available in the Centre and the Reference Assistant is at the service of the UN researchers and students with this small collection and through the UN website and databases to find UN information and documentation. She also holds workshops for different groups of UN researchers in the UN building or universities, government offices, NGOs, etc. to familiarize them with the UN information and documentation. The library collection that is transferred to the National library is consisted of: Some 30,000 historic documents about the United Nations and its activities, including peacekeeping and peacemaking, human rights, economic and social developments, disaster relief, environment, election monitoring and other reference materials such as debates in the General Assembly and the Security Council and their resolutions, as well as more than 8000 reports, books, some 90 periodicals, a United Nations video collection in VHS format and a collection of UN photos including shots of UN headquarters, the General Assembly, the Security Council, the Secretaries-General and other senior officials. |
