Researchers of Tehran Province Water and Wastewater Company learned more about the UN website

The UN Information Centre (UNIC) held “Finding UN Information and Documentation” workshop for some 8 researchers from Sustainability Office, Tehran Province Water and Wastewater Company at the UN office in Tehran on 31 July 2017. The workshop was jointly conducted by the UNIC Reference Assistant Ms. Nazanin Ghaemmaghami-Farahani and UNIC Intern Mr. Seyed Mohammad Amin Tabatabaei. The participants learned about some basic facts about the UN, and how to find and retrieve UN information on the UNIC, UN in Iran as well as the UN and the World Bank websites. They also learned the UN document symbols. Overview and searching through some of Dag Hammarskjöld Library resources and databases including Official Document System (ODS) and UNTERM were among the programmes of the workshop.

There was a focus on the issue of availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation. The participants got familiar with information on UN and Water, the UN observances on this issue, UN Water — a UN inter-agency coordination mechanism for all freshwater and sanitation related issues. In particular, they learned how to find relevant policy reports and data on water-related issues using various UN databases. Persian copies of the UN System Chart were distributed among the participants. The head of Sustainability Office, Tehran Province water and Wastewater Company Mr. Davoud Noor Mohammadi who accompanied the team, found the workshop very useful and hoped that the group can participate in more UNIC activities. Workshops “Finding UN Information and Documentation” are regularly organized by the UNIC for all interested groups.
