United Nations Depository Libraries
Since 1946, the Dag Hammarskjold Library of the United Nations Secretariat in New York has arranged for the distribution of United Nations documents and publications to users around the world through its depository library system. At present, there are more than 365 depository libraries in over 136 countries maintaining United Nations material from the date of designation as depository to the present.
There are four UN depository libraries in Iran. Three of them are located in Tehran and one in Shiraz.

UNIC Reference Library’s collection was transferred to the National Library and Archives of the Islamic Republic of Iran located in Tehran (Haghani Highway, next to Haghani underground station) at the end of 2012. A selection of UN information materials is still available in the Centre and the Reference Assistant is at the service of the UN researchers and students with this small collection and through the UN website and databases to find UN information and documentation. She also holds workshops for different groups of UN researchers in the UN building or universities, government offices, NGOs, etc. to familiarize them with the UN information and documentation. |
