Iranian Photographer Wins UN Award

TEHRAN, 11 January 2012 (UNIC)—Iranian photographer Javad Razmi won the award of Forest Photo Competition of UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

FAO Regional Office of the Near East (RNE) launched a photography competition under the theme of “Forest in Photos”, in July 2011, to engage people to promote dialogue about forests in its international year.

The United Nations Assembly declared 2011 as the International Year of Forests (IYF), to raise awareness on sustainable management, conservation and sustainable development of all types of forests.

Many participants sent their photo entries compete for the best shot of a forest, as their camera lens caught.

“Today we are announcing the names and works of the three winning photographers”, FAO said. FAO RNE is thanking all participations for taking the initiative, and congratulating the three winners namely Mr. Javad Razmi from the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mr. Nikhil Bohra from India and Mr. Yahya Karamat from Pakistan.

Mr. Razmi has had the privilege of being a photographer for the past ten years. He has won two photo contests in Iran. Mr. Razmi has consistently focused on aesthetics; his main themes have been nature, colors and people. More than photography, Mr. Razmi was enjoying nature and capturing some images of it. Mr. Razmi participated in the competition with two photos of a forest in Iran.
