FACULTY OF LAW AND POLITICAL SCIENCE
The Centre for Graduate International Studies was founded in 1965, as an institute for research and training, in the faculty of Law and Political Science at Tehran University. According to its statute, the Centre tries to develop international cooperation to advance the principles and purposes of the UN Charter. It tries to accomplish these objectives by carrying out speeches, training courses and research projects. In this connection, the Centre has had cooperation with UNIC-Tehran in various common fields of interest to them. Besides, the Library of the Centre has, from the very beginning of its work, functioned as the depository of the UN documents collection.
The Library of the Centre for Graduate International Studies is one of the specialized libraries of the Faculty of Law and Political Science which provides the necessary material for carrying out studies, training courses and research projects in various fields of international relations and offers them to the interested ones. The whole collection of the library consists of about 25000 books by title in different related fields, and 668 periodicals (547 non-Persian, mainly in English and French and 121 Persian). Its current subscribes list has 53 non-Persian periodicals.
In the UN Collection, materials are kept in English and French. Some materials are in the main hall of the library among the reference books. Others are kept, separately in the UN Documents Section. In this section, documents are mainly in printed form. Microfilms are also available. Moreover, those who need the UN documents can search through the UN Web site in the main hall of the library of the Centre for Graduate International Studies, Information Section of the library of the Faculty of Law and Political Science, and Human Rights Information Centre, which is located in the premises of the Centre for Graduate Internationals Studies.
