UNIC Tehran holds workshop on finding UN information for

On 8 July, the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) helped some 15 Environment NGO representatives from different provinces such as Tehran, Kurdistan and Gilan to broaden their knowledge of the UN.

UNIC Reference Assistant Nazanin Ghaemmaghami addressed them on how to retrieve UN documentation and information from UN and UNIC websites and on the Dag Hammarskjold Library’s (DHL), UNEP, UNU and UNITAR’s web page during a workshop at UNIC-Tehran.

Ms. Ghaemmaghami elaborated on basic UN facts and gave an overview of important information-searching tools located through DHL resources and databases, including the, Official Document System as well as press releases and UN documentation research guide on the subject of Environment. The focus of the workshop was on environment and finding UN information on this important global issue.
Persian copies of the UN Charter, Universal Declaration of Human Rights, MDG flyer, and a copy of NGLS publication entitled “Intergovernmental Negotiations and Decision Making at the United Nations: A Guide for NGOs”, plus a copy of the “MDG Report 2012” in English were also distributed among participants of the four-hour workshop.
