| As per request of 10 Ph.D students of international law, from Faculty of Law and Political Science, University of Tehran, the UN Information Centre (UNIC) held a “Finding UN Information and Documentation” workshop at the UN building in Tehran on 21 November 2017. The workshop was conducted by the UNIC Reference Assistant Ms. Nazanin Ghaemmaghami-Farahani. Students learned about some basic facts about the UN, and how to find and retrieve UN information on the UNIC, and the UN websites as well as Dag Hammarskjold Library (DHL) page on the web. Overview and searching through some of DHL resources and databases including UNBISNET, Official Document System (ODS), were discussed. |

The workshop was conducted by the UNIC Reference Assistant Ms. Nazanin Ghaemmaghami-Farahani. Students learned about some basic facts about the UN, and how to find and retrieve UN information on the UNIC, and the UN websites as well as Dag Hammarskjold Library (DHL) page on the web. Overview and searching through some of DHL resources and databases including UNBISNET, Official Document System (ODS), were discussed.
There was a focus on the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and a video on ICJ with Persian subtitles was screened for the group. The participants learnt how to locate a multilateral treaty and its status from the Treaty Collectionwebsite. They could find two lectures of University of Tehran professor and the former President of International Law Commission of the UN Dr. Djamchid Momtaz among the “Lecture Series” of UN Audiovisual Library of International Law. They also navigated through the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) and the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS).

Persian copies of UN Charter, Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the UN System Chart were distributed among the participants.
Ms. Maryam Samsami Mohajer, the organizer of the programme found the workshop very useful.
